Los amores posmodernos son y no son como antes. Ante un mundo que se nos derrite en las manos, el amor se ha vuelto más fugaz, incluso elusivo, pero no deja de ser lo mismo: las ganas absolutas de pedirle a alguien que no se vaya, de alargar las horas y las despedidas, de compartir duermevelas a las que les preocupa muy poco el despertador. De ahí que Quiero Quedarme tenga el calorcito de un bolero como el más, pero también se cubra con sábanas de sintetizadores elegantes, tan bien puestos como se pone un beso de madrugada. ¡Qué difícil es cantarle al amor cuando parece que todo ya se ha dicho! Pese a todo, Alex le da la vuelta y le pone su mejor voz al sonido suspendido en el aire. Quiero quedarme suena a música latina de vanguardia que se ha venido nutriendo del son y el bolero pero también del soul, el RnB y los sonidos menos orgánicos propios del urbano.
Alex se pregunta sin mucha prisa si es el mismo con y sin ti. Claro que en ese “ti” cabe una persona, un par de fotografías, una ciudad entera o la música misma: el más puro amor por la canción como objeto. En estos tiempos donde todo dura nada, donde los corazones digitales se marchitan en uno o dos días, el mejor cumplido es agradecer que todavía no te has ido. Quiero quedarme es la banda sonora de una mañana soñada en la que se hace de la cama una fortaleza de la que sólo se sale para poner café. El soundtrack de esa expedición brevísima a la cocina para volver al abrazo de esa batería que parece salida de una caja de ritmos nostálgica y testaruda. Difícil no dedicar los versos de Quiero quedarme, que no se deciden entre ser un ruego o un deseo: lo nuestro, como apunta afiladamente Alex, no se tiene que ir.

Faced with a world that melts in our hands, love has become more fleeting, even elusive, but it is still the same: the absolute desire to ask someone not to leave, to lengthen the hours and the goodbyes, of sharing half sleepers who care very little about the alarm clock. That is why Quiero Quedarme has the warmth of a bolero like any other, but it is also covered with sheets of elegant synthesizers, as well placed as a kiss at dawn. How difficult it is to sing to love when it seems that everything has already been said! Despite everything, Alex turns it around and puts his best voice on the sound suspended in the air. In these ephemeral times where everything lasts for nothing, where digital hearts wither in a day or two, the best compliment is to say thank you that you haven’t left yet. Quiero Quedarme is the soundtrack of a dream morning in which the bed is made into a fortress from which one only leaves to make coffee. The soundtrack of that very brief expedition to the kitchen to return to the embrace of that battery that seems to come out of a nostalgic and stubborn drum machine. It is difficult not to dedicate the verses of I want to stay, which cannot be decided between being a request or a wish: what is ours, as Alex sharply points out, does not have to go.
